DF(4) BSD Programmer's Manual DF(4)

NAME
     df - Digital/Intel 21143-based Ethernet/Fast Ethernet

SYNOPSIS
     df* at pci?
     nsphy* at df? phy ?

DESCRIPTION
The df device driver provides support for Ethernet cards based on the
     Digital/Intel DC21143 Ethernet/Fast Ethernet controller with built-in
     SROM.

MEDIA SELECTION
Media options available are listed and manipulated via standard options
     to the ifconfig(8) command.

If the card has an on-board MII PHY, then the driver does not support the
media selections that do not use the MII PHY. The non-MII media can be
selected by disabling the on-board PHY with flags=1.

SEE ALSO
     arp(4), netintro(4), nsphy(4), ifconfig(8)

BUGS
On some boards, the Link Integrity LED does not work when switched to
100baseTX mode; this is a chip restriction.

N-way autonegotiation is not supported if the Ethernet media is connected
     using the SYM interface.

Sending data on a port that is not connected to anything can result in a
number of error messages, the relation of some of them to connectivity
     problems is sometimes not intuitive.

The driver currently does not handle boards correctly that have multiple
21143's sharing one SROM; each 21143 is required to have it's private
SROM with version 3/4 SROM data.
